At Rubygates Preparatory School, we believe there is no dull child; that every human child is born with the same number of neurons in their brain and therefore has the same potential as any for greatness. The environment in which the child grows however plays a great a role in shaping the future of the child.
Education and Leadership
We believe that the purpose of education is to encourage in your child the spirit of inquiry, to equip him with the mental, social, moral and emotional skills to become a contributing member of the society and ultimately to offer leadership in the field of human endeavour for which he has natural talents.
While we have curricula, expertise and commitment to deliver high quality education that is steeped in leadership oriented thinking to your children, we believe that our work will be made more effective only if we have the active support and participation of our pupils’ parents in their learning.
Two primary agents of education and socialization
We believe that the school and parents (including the culture of the family into which a child is born) form the two primary agents of a child’s education and socialization. Both the school and the parents contribute to the physical, mental, moral, social and emotional development of the child.

At Rubygates preparatory School, we therefore promote a strong, well-informed relationship, built on trust between the school and parents.
Integrity of Education
At Rubygates Preparatory School, we believe in honest assessment and reporting of the child’s ability and performance and expect the same honesty in feedback given by parents.
Child Development and Entry Age
We believe that children must be allowed to be children, to grow and be exposed to age appropriate learning that is commensurate with their readiness on all five stages of child development, i.e., physical, mental, emotional, social and moral development.
Our classes are therefore arranged in accordance with international best practice and the National Policy on Education which stipulate 6 years as the age of entry into Basic (Primary) One.
Classes: Nursery 1 Entry Age: 24 months (2 Years)
Nursery 2 Entry Age: 36 months (3 years)
KG I Entry Age: 48 months (4 years)
KG II Entry Age: 60 months (5 years)
Year I Entry Age: 72 months (6 years)
And so on.
Children applying to Year One and above will write an entrance Test.
